April Pup-Date

Iroh is now 15 weeks old and settling in beautifully with his foster family! His first days in his foster home have been a great success: he hasn’t had any accidents, mastered his doggy door, and eats with enthusiasm. He has shown consistent understanding of "sit" and "bed" commands, and his foster is working to teach him to stay in “place” during chores like vacuuming and mopping.

He has bonded with his foster sister, Fiona, as well as Ivar the family cat. His foster says his favorite game is tug-o-war with Fiona, especially with his new toy, a stuffed monkey. Iroh has also shown a natural love for children, which is a wonderful trait for his future role as a PTSD service dog.

On the exposure and training front, Iroh's foster has introduced him to shopping carts, and public outings including his first visit to a pet store, where he was greeted warmly by staff. Structured leash walks are set to begin next week, and he has already shown a strong natural heel. Iroh is making wonderful progress, and his foster family is over the moon with him!
